NERDCULTURE SMACKDOWN! POKÉMON OF THE WEEK! JUNE 22- JUNE 28/13!

SOURCE
#304 ARON, #305 LAIRON, #306 AGGRON

OH MAN! I'M READY TO ROCK WITH THIS HEAVY METAL TRIO! Aggron is easily in my top twenty favorite Pokémon and I always use him in third generation Pokémon games as my super tank to take out all types of threats! I also really like his 1st and 2nd stage! 2nd and 3rd gen were total surprises to me and I had no clue that Aron, who I thought was pretty cool, would evolve into a Silver Samurai dinosaur!

LAST WEEK'S POKÉMON OF THE WEEK: #370 LUVDISC & #594 ALOMOMOLA

WORD OF THE DAY! 6/22/13!

unfortunate [un-for-chuh-nut]
adjective
1. Suffering from or being a victim of bad luck/circumstances.
2. Something that does not bode well.
3. Something regrettable, deplorable, or disturbing.
4. Sad, morose, depressing, etc.

EX. Do you guys remember Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events? A curiously written series of children's books and a rather unfortunate Jim Carrey vehicle by Nickelodeon before M. Night Shammalammadingdong's The Last Airbender movie but after Good Burger, the series took advantage of the upswing of young readers in the era of Potter-mania with each novel taking a rather formulaic form but managing to separate itself from it's contemporaries by avoiding any similarities with Harry Potter (it was not fantasy) and instead focusing on a very dark sense of humorous macabre. Almost every character the Baudelaire children meet, from the enigmatic to the eccentric and from the cruel to the kind, meets a rather unfortunate end that will have you wondering how and when each introduced character is going be knocked off in an ironic or gruesome way. I would recommend the series, despite its repetitive nature, thanks to the fairly unique subject matter and its cast of characters. Especially the despicable Count Olaf.

WORD OF THE DAY! 6/21/13!

1. An animal that feeds primarily on planets.

EX. Herbivores are fully capable of killing you.

WORD OF THE DAY! 6/20/13!

boner [boh-ner]
noun
1. A stupid mistake.
2. Vulgar. A male penile erection.

EX. Well, after so many weeks of boners... the internet has spoken and Microsoft has bowed to the demands of the common geek. Possibly, just possibly, to the detriment of everyone.

Regardless of how you fall on this issue, the reality stands: the "next generation" of consoles is just the last generation with better hardware, now. Only time will tell what features and exclusives will make me want to buy either the PS4 and XBOX ONE.

P.S. The article above is a satirical sum up of the inevitable frustration belonging to those who wish Xbox One had NOT backpedaled on their decisions to enforce DRM and a 24-hour check-in.

WTF WED! GET THAT MAGI'S STREET FIGHTER ANIME THAT NO ONE UNDERSTANDS!

This is one of the most curiously animated Game Grumps animations...I have ever seen. The color is, to borrow a word from your lame dad, "trippy". The color and animation gives everything this woogity woogity woo visual appeal that'll massage your brain melons. Enjoy.

One second guys, gotta charge my commentary combo: UWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

MORE UWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

WORD OF THE DAY! 6/19/13!

パクパク/ paku-paku [pa-ku-pa-ku]
noun
1. Japanese. The onomatopoeia of chewing noises or the sound of a mouth opening or closing.

EX. Did you know that Pacman was originally called Pakkuman as a reference to the Japanese paku-paku? Then, the character and game became Puck Man as a reference to the character's hockey puck like shape. Finally, after the game was re-released by Midway, in the states, they renamed the character and game to Pacman.

WEEKLY ROUND-UP! 6/10-16/13!

WEEKLY ROUND-UP PRESENTS
FAIRY TYPE POKÉMON WEEK!

7. WORD OF THE DAY! 6/10/13! Noncombatant.

Hey, 12 or so readers, does anybody actually own this useless gaming device colloquially known as the Ouya?

No? Okay. Figured. Wanted an opinion on the device.

6. NERDCULTURE SMACKDOWN! POKÉMON OF THE WEEK! #370 LUVDISC & #594 ALOMOMOLA

I hope this upcoming Saturday, when I roll a random Pokémon, I'll get something interesting.

5. WORD OF THE DAY! 6/12/13! Construction Paper.

I need to get back into the craft business. Maybe I'll take some of these pipe-cleaners, cardboard, and string to make an Ewok Village... or I can get a real job. But who does that help besides me?

4. WTF WED! GAME GRUMPS: THE MOVIE: THE TRAILER: THE SEQUEL!

Alright. Real talk. REAL TALK. I got nothing. Sorry.

3. MUSICAL MON! THE WAY I FEEL ABOUT THE YEAR OF LUIGI IS WRONG!

I might be getting a Wii-U later this year. Maybe.

2. WORD OF THE DAY! 6/13/13! Multitudinous.

They added a new Pokémon type and a bunch of features for the upcoming Pokémon X & Y? Get a 3DS guys...

1. WORD OF THE DAY! 6/14/13! "Murder Your Darlings"

In this article, I admit that all writers commit murder, genocide, and worse...

WORD OF THE DAY! 6/18/13!

fatherly [faw-ther-lee]
adjective
1. Of or befitting the manner/isms of a father, especially a good or attentive father.

EX. Yo, just throwing up this amazing dorkly comic about fatherly love in the video game universe and, considering all the father themes in Man of Steel, I'd recommend taking your pop or pop-like figure to see the flick this week. Yes, I'm recommending a film to word of the day articles in a row. Sue me.

WORD OF THE DAY! 6/17/13!

real talk [reel-tawk]
noun
1. The philosophy of talking candidly and openly and honestly without fear of what others might think.

a. Usually for another's benefit to let them know of something that is usually hard to discuss

b. To let others know that you are talking honestly and sincerely and that what you are expressing is not a joke and that you are unabashedly being true to your own thoughts and feelings

c. Can be used in the sense to affirm what someone is saying as a true, or valid statement and that they are expressing sincere thoughts and opinions. the two are not necessarily always inclusive though

EX. Dudes, real talk? The new Man of Steel movie is awesome sauce. The drama is heart-wrenching, the action if visceral, and the special effects are top of the line. Zach Snyder is the man.

BTW, if you don't know what the comic about up there, the Game Grumps say "Real talk?" a lot.

MUSIC MONDAY! JON SNOW KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT CHOCOBOS & WAR!

JON: I'm ready. I won't let you down.
BENJIN: You're not going.
JON: But I'm better than every-
BENJIN: You're better than no one. Here, a man gets what he earns...when he earns it. I'll speak when I return.

Then we've got a pretty spanking fresh jig from the Chocobo-Punk Rock movement and the brilliant potato head of brentalfloss. We've covered several other works in his repertoire but nothing quite so potentially offensive! Nah, just kidding. It's all clean fun. Kweh.

Last but not least is an animation of the incredibly well-produced Emotional Claws video by xxjerryterryxx. In a world torn apart by WAR only WAR can save it with music. But, with his claws so incapable of producing a tune, he'll have to do it with the music...in his soul.
