WORD OF THE DAY! 6/22/13!

unfortunate [un-for-chuh-nut]
adjective
1. Suffering from or being a victim of bad luck/circumstances.
2. Something that does not bode well.
3. Something regrettable, deplorable, or disturbing.
4. Sad, morose, depressing, etc.

EX. Do you guys remember Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events? A curiously written series of children's books and a rather unfortunate Jim Carrey vehicle by Nickelodeon before M. Night Shammalammadingdong's The Last Airbender movie but after Good Burger, the series took advantage of the upswing of young readers in the era of Potter-mania with each novel taking a rather formulaic form but managing to separate itself from it's contemporaries by avoiding any similarities with Harry Potter (it was not fantasy) and instead focusing on a very dark sense of humorous macabre. Almost every character the Baudelaire children meet, from the enigmatic to the eccentric and from the cruel to the kind, meets a rather unfortunate end that will have you wondering how and when each introduced character is going be knocked off in an ironic or gruesome way. I would recommend the series, despite its repetitive nature, thanks to the fairly unique subject matter and its cast of characters. Especially the despicable Count Olaf.
