WORD OF THE DAY! 3/29/14! (LOL UPDATE)

team builder [teem-bil-der]
noun
1. League of Legends. A game mode where a players preemptively pick characters and positions and are teamed with players filling the other roles.

EX. Team builder is here. So I'm gonna go play some League of Legends. But before I go, lemme talk a little bit about the new game mode:

First, you either choose to host a game or find a game.

The host of a game picks a character and role, and the others roles they want, and then begins searching for players that picked those other roles.

The other players pick the other roles. If the host doesn't like a character or player, than can ban them before starting.

That's it.

MIXED BAG. MICHAEL BAY'S TMNT TRAILER RANT.

Michael Bay simultaneously ruined Transformers and made it bigger than ever. That bothers me, but it doesn't personally ruin my childhood or adulthood. I only like Transformers.

But I love Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I had action figures, VHS, video games, clothing, books, and so much more merchandise based on the original film trilogy and cartoon show. My favorite turtle was Mike, but Don was a close-second.

When I heard Michael Bay was set to direct TMNT, I hoped it was one of those rumors we here every day on the internet. I hoped it wasn't true or it would fall apart in pre-production. I hoped the rumor would die. Instead, more and more evidence turned the rumor into fact. I braced myself for the worst...

My reactions to the rest of the news?

Megan Fox as April O'Neil? Kill me now.

I like William Fichtner. But why is he playing Shredder? Are there no cool Japanese actors out there in 2014?

Motion-capture? C'mon! The original films are beloved because of their use of puppetry and practical effects. CGI turtles are going to look stupid.

They look kinda stupid. They look more like a franchise ripping off the Ninja Turtles than the Turtles to me. The original franchise had simple character designs with simple elements to separate them-- the colors of their masks, slightly different skin tones, and different weapons-- and that was probably part of the charm. They weren't covered in a bunch of garbage and other accessories. They were defined by their actions and words rather than their appearance giving away their personalities.

They look like giant green babies mixed with the goombas/koopas from the Super Mario Bros. movie.

But whatever...

Nothing I can say is going to stop people from going to see this film. I am probably going to go see this film in theaters. It will probably be a big hit and be followed up by all of the merchandise and sequels we can stomach. This is the world we live in. And sometimes it stinks worse than the Shredder in a trash compactor. But that's life... I guess I can still look forward to Guardians of the Galaxy.

P.S. There are probably things I like about this trailer. I'm just giving an approximation of a piece of me not evening wanting to look directly at the trailer out of desperation for it not to exist. An example of positivity? Leo looks pretty good. Unlike Mikey. Mikey looks weird.

WTF WED! KUTARAGI ENDORSES GUNNAR SCOUTERS IN WATCHING VEGETA VS. MEWTWO!

As my friend Corey pointed out early today, I like corny 80's direct to VHS action tripe and Kutaragi's Way, the reenactment of Ken Kutaragi's rise to become the head of Sony Computer Entertainment and the bringing about of the Playstation brand that earned him the title of the "Father of the Playstation" & a lifetime achievement award courtesy of the GDC Awards & Mega 64.

It is exactly as he remembers the events.

Shortly after Dunkey's ground-breaking review of Blubberducky 2, we were blessed with his latest gameplay highlights of the newest champion to the League of Legends roster, Vel'koz the Eye of the Void.

I'm making a note here. Huge success.

Let's end with a marathon of weird that is the Vegeta Vs. Mewtwo Special. It is a collaboration between many interesting entertainers and animators of youtube to birth an abominable onslaught of shorts all in order to answer who would win in the classic battle between Super Saiyan and Super Pokémon.

Now, I gotta bail. I tried the new breakfast items at Taco Bell this morning (had a coupon for two free meals) and the results are less than magical.

POKÉBLOG 2014 #3 NEW ANIME- POKÉMON X & Y: STRONGEST MEGA EVOLUTION. ACT 1!

obi [oh-bee]
noun
1. A long, broad sash tied around the waist, usually over a kimono.

EX. Why the heck is the new Pokémon protagonist wearing a rope-like kabuki-style obi around his neck? It's either that or a feather boa... and I'm not sure that the team behind the Pokémon anime is necessarily that forward thinking. Well, maybe he gets his fashion sense from Mega Ampharos?

MUSIC MONDAY! I'M JUST SAIYAN THAT THIS TITLE IS DRAGON ON! LOL!

Let's start this chilly Monday with a look at, possibly but not definitely, the last and possible best Frozen parody of the bunch:

Team Four Star is the big success story of the Youtube Abridged community; a super group of talented voice actors and producers of their own series, they have been producing episode of Dragon Ball Z Abridged for 5 years and are still going strong.

They also do one-offs like this week's featured video and their classic parody of "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Disney's Mulan.

Seriously, if you like anime (or even if you don't), abridgers produce some of the funniest content on youtube and you should check them out if you somehow haven't by this point.

THE DRAGON'S DAUGHTER! (GAME OF THRONES TRIBUTE MIX)

Last week I mentioned I'm stoked for the new season of Game of Thrones, so lemme talk about a funny little antecdote:

I dunno why, but every time I cut the grass I think of Game of Thrones. My family lives in the country and we have a good chunk of land that I gotta cut every one to three weeks over the spring and summer to keep it from getting out of hand. My mind seems to almost always wander to Game of Thrones and Game of Thrones based fantasies (like made-up characters and future events, etc.). Maybe it has something to do with the series being associated with that time of year or maybe I just want to write cool fiction like George R R Martin. I got no idea...

Finally, let's end on a League of Legends music video compilation.
