NERDCULTURE SMACKDOWN! POKÉMON OF THE WEEK! JUNE 15- JUNE 21/13!

 #370 LUVDISC & #594 ALOMOMOLA

Trying to find the strength to write this article two weeks ago is what led to me going on a break from the blog...but here goes nothing. Last time, we covered some rather delightful cottonweed cuties, but this week we've got another pair of boring lovey dovey water Pokémon that I couldn't give less of a crap about... #370 Luvdisc and #594 Alomomola.

LAST WEEK'S POKÉMON OF THE WEEK: #187 HOPPIP, #188 SKIPLOOM, & #189 JUMPLUFF

First up, we've got a pitiful Pokémon that resembles one of those pink icing coated sugar cookie and probably took less creativity to design than Voltorb. Luvdisc is one of the lamest designs in Pokémon history and just takes up space in the Pokédex. The only thing is has going for it...

...is the fact that it makes for an excellent, but ultimately useless accessory in Pokémon fanart involving the ocean because a) it is easier to draw than Diglett and b) because it is literally a heart, you can use it to accent romantic scenes (as shown above). A big disappointment is that Luvdisc doesn't evolve into anything useful (like Alomomola).

Alomomola is a bit more redeemable. Unlike the heart-shaped parrot fish above, it resembles it's real life counterpart in a more interesting way. Clearly meant to resemble the strange but curious sunfish, Alomomola is a little more detailed, but still pretty boring. The only thing I think it has going for it, in my opinion, are its hand shaped fins that work well for its role as a support Pokémon in double battles and the like. On the other hands...
