WORD OF THE DAY! 12/1/12.

game master [geym-mas-ter]
noun
1. The person that controls and facilitates the various elements (including NPC, environment, monsters, etc.) in a role-playing game, such as Dungeons and Dragons (commonly called a "dungeon master").

EX. Pictured above is a goblin game master, and his gibbering chums, playing a home brew game of Lawyers & Lattes. The game master, Kreppler, has just asked Skoll to roll a check to see if he can successfully intimidate the defendant's lawyer in the court bathroom. Luckily, Skoll's player character, Steven Brown, has a high Intimidate skill bonus and will probably succeed on intimidating the honest lawyer he is in intimidating. Kreppler smirks as Skoll rolls a measly 13.

"Just rip of his head!" Ludd shouted from across the table before being struck on the head by the troll to his right.

"Shut up." Kreppler hissed, "And eat you Halfling rinds!" He sneared as he looked over at Skoll, "Dennis Smith doesn't take kindly to your intimidating tactics and just smiles to himself as you try to intimidate him. Zipping up his pants, he leaves the bathroom without washing his hands."

"Nine Hells!" Skoll hissed, "And I gotta shake hands with that bastard."

"That's the luck of the die, Skoll-face." Kreppler sneared.

"I still don't see why he couldn't rip his head off..."Ludd mumbled, to himself, bitterly.

WTF WED! SUPER MARO LORD OF THE POKERABIES TRIPLE FEATURE!

WTF WEDNESDAY PRESENTS

Today I got a triple feature with you guy's starting with something old; a clip from the 1989 Ice Capades special segment on ABC. It is filled with nostalgic nonsense and fluff, like Jason Bateman and Alyssa Milano releasing King Koopa from the NES with a "computer virus". Milano thinks Bowser "looks like Mr. Belvedere". Unfortunately, this nonsense is interrupted by the horrifying nonsense that is the actual show. The best part of that is when Mario and Luigi show up to just kill the Goombas and Koopa Troopers... its brutal and the children watching look confused.

Dodo Baggins must traverse Middle Equestria and carry the One Horseshoe to Rule Them All to the top of Mt. Doom and toss it in to save Ponyville. Only through the aid of a fellowship of earth ponies, unicorns, and pegasi can this little filly manage to overcome the odds against her.

My only problem? Its too flat of a parody-- even more flat than the Family Guy Star Wars specials by relying less on actually making merry of the original product instead reproducing it with a My Little Pony theme. Shrug. It seems to be a common mistake for satirist to think that satire is just about reproducing an abridged version of the original by creating caricatures of characters and the like.

Parodies should be funnier. Regardless, bronies will probably enjoy it.

And we end with some more Pokemon sadism. Warning, extremely graphic and kind of upsetting. Recommended for a wry mood.

WORD OF THE DAY! 11/28/12.

Master Ball [mas-ter-ball]
noun
1. Video Game (Pokemon). A type of Pokeball, a device used to capture Pokemon, introduced in the first generation. Developed by Silph Co. and probably the rarest type of Pokeball, the device can capture any Pokemon with a 100% success rate.

EX. It took me over ten years to work up the courage to use a Master Ball. In most Pokemon profiles, they are sitting in the character's inventory.

WEEKLY ROUND-UP! 11/18-11/24/12!

WEEKLY ROUND-UP PRESENTS
I don't feel hated...but I do feel the futility of training a Rattata to Lvl 100
YOUNGSTER JOEY WEEK!

7. WORD OF THE DAY! 11/20/12. Bottom Dog.

I think Pokemon's Youngster Joey gets mocked a lot, but I think a lot of us were like Joey as a kid or a new kid like him. Don't you remember that kid that didn't have any friends and always tried to impress you with something that wasn't that impressive? Joey is that kid.

6. WORD OF THE DAY! 11/20/12. Chekhov's Gun.

The effective "Chekhov's Gun" is called "seeding". It involves dropping hints or setting a precedent in an early scene of a narrative to set up an event later on in the piece.

I've been watching a lot of animated shorts on Youtube lately...

4. WORD OF THE DAY! 10/24/12. Brohoof.

On a similar note to this "word of the day", I gotta admit that while other fandoms are less desperate to accrue more fans for their fandom, that there are equally obnoxious fandoms that I'm a part of, as well as being a brony. P.S. Ponies gonna PWN and Bronies gonna BRON!

3. MUSICAL MON. LO PAN STYLE (GANGNAM STYLE PARODY)!

"Needle Love, in your arm I must shove/
Then maybe baby we can prove that I am flesh and blood/
Six demon bag, Egg Shen you shouldn't have/
I drank your peasant magic portion and it made me gag and take a $h!7." -Lo Pan Style

2. WORD OF THE DAY! 11/23/12. Donut/Doughnut.

Letting you guys know that Zach Martin and I recorded a new podcast and should have it up sometime in like the next week or so. We discussed anime localization, for your pleasure.

I really am not sure how I feel about the end of Halo, guys. But the experience made an emotional connection with me and any video game that does that deserves my affection. Unless it just makes me angry/frustrated/disappointed. I'm looking at YOU, Warren Specter! You sold me Epic Mickey and your words turned out to be so wrong that I gotta think you were delusional about the quality of the title. I'll just play my 2-D Mickey Mouse games on SNES and Dreamcast, thank you.

WORD OF THE DAY! 11/27/12.

gosh darn/ goshdarn [gosh-dahrn]
noun
1. A mild expletive used in plaid of goddamn.

3. The state or condition of being painted, decorated, etc., in shades of a single color.
adjective
4. Being or made in the shades of a single color.
5. Having the images reproduced in tones of gray.

EX. Anybody else love the monochrome graphics of the Gameboy? No. Well, are you at least nostalgic about the "Fifty Shades of Green" that was playing Tetris and Super Mario Land? Not really. Well, (seven days), I'm sorry to hear that...I'll just play my Gameboy carts on my Gameboy SP and be happy.

MUSICAL MON! VENTURE BROS. "FROM THE LADLE TO THE GRAVE!"

MUSICAL MONDAY PRESENTS

The Venture Bros. (Cartoon Network) is probably my favorite TV show of all time; created by Jackson Publick (Christopher McCulloch) and Doc Hammer, the Adult Swim animated show follows the Venture family, their friends, and their foes. The show is a parody that mixes Johnny Quest, G.I. Joe, Scooby Doo, and a variety of obscure and oblong references to everything from the David Bowie mythos to The Neverending Story.

The video I'm posting today is the "documentary" style special about the garage band Shallow Gravy and their first single "Jacket". Enjoy.

WORD OF THE DAY! 11/25/12.

mutt [mutt]
noun
1. A dog, especially a mongrel or dog of poor breeding.
2.  A poor or stupid person.

EX. I love my dog, as I'm sure most people love their dogs, and I'm sure that me going on about my mutt is nothing special, but I feel like the above comic covers the concept of the "zen" of dogs.

“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.”-Josh Billings

To put it simply, while there is certainly a thing as overindulging one's pet, I think that a dog deserves their owner's admiration, affection, and attention. Dogs have been bred over a thousand generations to be Man's Best Friend and is the most sympathetic animal to man's plight. In fact, if there is any saving grace in humanity's history it is that we created dog.

“Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of their universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal man has ever made. ”-Roger Caras

I suppose the main reason I'm sharing this is to just encourage you to show your dog a fraction of the affection he shows you and try to learn from his loyalty, his enthusiasm, and his love. So, I'm gonna go pet on my dog right now and forgive me for being a little sentimental. Have a wonderful day.

“If you don't own a dog, at least one, there is not necessarily anything wrong with you, but there may be something wrong with your life." -Roger Caras
