MIXED BAG. LET'S PLAY! POKÉMON EMERALD NUZLOCKE ATTEMPT #1! PART 2 & 3!

&

And here (linked above and embedded further down) are the next two parts to my Emerald Nuzlocke Attempt #1 series! I've actually become a little more confident about doing more Let's Plays after further reviewing these and the next two episodes. It takes a little warming up for our commentary to get animated (something I'll take into mind in the future). These two episodes see us catching several Pokémon to add to our Nuzlocke roster. Unfortunately, due to the rules, it seems our luck is against us... What are those Nuzlocke Challenge rules again?

The basic rules we use in our challenge are as follows:

1. You may only catch the first Pokémon you encounter in any route or area. After that encounter, you may not catch any other Pokémon in that route or area.

2. If a Pokémon dies it is considered dead, must be deposited in the last PC BOX, and never withdrawn. If your entire Pokémon team is knocked out, you're considered dead and must restart the game.

3. You must nickname ever Pokémon you catch.

And, under these rules, we've added Sophie the Poochyena and Swiper the Zigzagoon to our team in Parts 2 & 3.

I hope to have the next two episodes up this weekend, so keep your eyes peeled.

WORD OF THE DAY! 12/21/13! SNOWDOWN SHOWDOWN PT.2! (LoL Update)

showdown [show-down]
noun
1. The laying down of one's cards, face upward, in a card game, especially poker.
2. A conclusive settlement of an issue, difference, etc., in which all resources, power, or the like, are used; decisive confrontation.

EX.  In Part 2, we discuss the 1 V 1/2 V 2 battles that take place in the new mode for Howling Abyss (prolly for a very limited time), Showdown!

Like any mode, you begin by queuing up. In this case, you queue up alone or with a partner and then draft ban three champs each. You then proceed to the Howling Abyss, pick some items, an ability, and make your way to the middle. The deciding factors on who wins Showdown are as follows:

1. First blood or first team to two kills.
2. First enemy tower destroyed.
3. First individual or team to 100 minion last hits.

And that's pretty much it. So how does it stack up?

1 V 1 is a pretty bitter affair suited to settling disputes between players or practicing single lanes, but I think it's not my cup of tea. 2 V 2 is more my speed, as a dual-laner, and has more possibilities for this mode that's meant to be enjoyed in short bursts.

The biggest issue with this mode is that Howling Abyss is designed in such a linear way that certain champs have the advantage-- control-heavy champs with lots of range that can keep enemies at a distance are always at an advantage on this map because the weakness of those sorts of champs is sneak attacks and being flanked. Since you can't get the jump on your opponents on Howling Abyss (or it's difficult), these champs will always be at an advantage. Especially if they already start out strong at low levels since matches on this map, especially in this mode, take place at early levels. But that's just the challenging nature of this sort of map that is so different than the standard map of Summoner's Rift.

Maybe Magma Chamber would fix this problem? I dunno. Shrug. Still, it's fun and you should definitely check it out... ASAP!

Don't be a sad and lonely Poro.

WEEKLY ROUND-UP! AUG. 26 - SEP. 3 2013!

WEEKLY ROUND-UP PRESENTS
THE WEEK OF A GOOGLY EYES DERPLY!

7. WORD OF THE DAY! 8/27/13! NOT EVEN CLOSE BABY!

I dunno what to blame my absence on... I've been looking for a job, but haven't found one yet.

6. WORD OF THE DAY! 8/3/13! PAX.

My good friend Steven "Aceofspadescard" Pullam had a blast at PAX Prime, or so he says, where he got to talk to gaming industry folks, play demos, got in a little magic time with the most current version of my GW AGGRO DECK and brought back swag to share with the Action Society.

My favorite gifts were the Arcade Hecarim & Riot Blitzcrank Skins and a Shadowrun poster. Thanks Steven!

5. MUSIC MON! HEY! MR. WILSON! LET'S BE BEST FRIENDS & PLAY VIDEO GAMES FOREVER!

The world don't move to the beat of just one drum! What might be right for you, may not be right for some! Different strokes.

4. WORD OF THE DAY! 8/31/13! Decapitation!

Apparently, less than half of my friends have played Brutal Legend. My advice? Play Brutal Legend. Next time you see an opportunity to pick up this quirky Double Fine title, do so.

3. WTF WED! JAPAN #6 THE JAPANESE TAKE PRANKING TO THE MAX!

HOLY FUCKING SHIT! IT'S A DINOSAUR! JESUS! WHAT THE FUCK! OH MY FUCKING GOD! FUCKING DINOSAURS! HOLY SHIT! WHAT THE FUCK!

And, in unrelated new, I'm really excited to continue getting better at League of Legends. I might write some articles on other MOBA and include some special guest pieces by fellow summoners, that I play with, in the near future.

What do you think?

2. WORD OF THE DAY! 8/28/13! Imagination.

'"And you'd be like "Texas walk out of this shit!" As you knock [Chuck Norris] off the platform into a blackhole beneath you.'

"Then you'd hop on a flying stingray with the Spider Queen giving you like six handjobs at once as you fly off into the sunset while Morgan Freeman narrates..." ~ Excerpts from this article

1. WORD OF THE DAY! 8/26/13! Salutations!

Expect MTG articles in the last week of the month with the release of Theros.

WORD OF THE DAY! 8/30/13!

PAX [pax]
noun
1. The Penny Arcade Expo, a game convention created by the authors of the Penny Arcade Comic, in Seattle, Washington in 2004, because they wanted to give equal attention to console, computer, and tabletop gamers. Other cities that hold the convention are Boston, Massachusetts and Melbourne, Australia. The convention in Seattle is referred to as "PAX Prime".

EX. This year will be the very first four day PAX Prime and my good friend Steven "AceofSpadesCard" Pullam is attending. I wish him good luck and hope he has a lot of fun. I also hope he isn't mistaken as a Titan by anime fans and attacked with a series of wire-work using teenagers.

He already sent this awesome picture of a Ziggs sculpture on display to our gamer clan, NuFu, on GroupMe.
