1. Norse mythology. The burning rainbow bride between Midgard (the world of men AKA Earth) and Asgard (kingdom of the gods). The bridge ends at the home of the god Heimdallr, who guards it from jotnar (giants), but, according to the Ragnorak cycle, it's destruction will foretell the coming of the end.
