WORD OF THE DAY! 9/19/13!

vizier [vi-zeer]
noun
1. A high official or advisor or minister, especially in certain Muslim countries or caliphates.

EX.

"Grand Viziers were always scheming megalomaniacs. It was probably in the job description: 'Are you a devious, plotting, unreliable madman? Ah, good, then you can be my most trusted adviser.'"

Posted the found picture above yesterday. It was only a matter of time before we got pro fanart, I s'pose.

WORD OF THE DAY! 2/28/13!

encore [ahng-kohr]
interjection
1. Again, once more (used by an audience to call for a repeat performance).
noun
2. A demand, often accompanied with applause, for a repeat performance from the performer/s or for the performer/s to return to the stage for another bow.
3. A performance repeated, usually in response to audience demand.
4. A rerun.

EX. And now for an encore performance of implejr of Dumbledore Shot First attempting to woo the audience with a pseudo-inciteful Word of the Day! Here comes a major criticism for the Pokemon trainers in the Pokemon games that you end up playing against-- most of them seem to suck and suck hard.

"QUICK MAGIKARP! USE SPLASH!"
It's bad enough that they demand a battle, even if you're an unequal match, they just watched you barely come out ahead in your last battle and you need to get to a Pokécenter, their Pokémon just suck, or whatever other reason they really should've left you alone, but they often make reckless mistakes. You ever been getting your butt kicked by an opponent with an OP Pokemon (like Whitney's Miltank being able to steamroll most teams) and then suddenly the trainer does something stupid like use one of the dozens of moves that are basically useless fluff or just don't fit the situation? Is the problem fixable?

Nope. The fact is that the number of variables involved in Pokémon are so deeply intense that even if they wanted to program the AI to make the most logical move in almost any situation, with the occasional gambit to mix it, they would still probably be unable to keep up with the literally millions of possible scenarios you can wind up playing out. Furthermore, they aren't gonna fix it because Pokémon's single player campaign is supposed to be fairly easy to complete (I beat Pokémon Blue when I was eight) and, while that is hardly a barrier to many other game franchises that appeal to a wide audience, it would change the formula to much for the series that consistently sells millions of copies and moves handheld consoles off the shelves.

So, yeah, the point was as moot as a Bidoof. He's lame, but we like having something lame without feelings to hit up on. We're all monsters. What was I talking about? Was it about Disney's Lion King?

WTF WEDNESDAY! MAN'S LIFE & THE FRAGILE MALE EGO OFTHE GREATEST GENERATION!

 WTF WEDNESDAY! PRESENTS:
MAN'S LIFE & THE FRAGILE MALE EGO OF THE GREATEST GENERATION!

POP GOES THE WEASELS!
Egads! In the 1950's, young men came from the war and had two things on their minds; starting families with their favorite gal and lots and lots of animal violence. Seriously, below are a series of covers from Man's Life and other periodicals, stretching from the fifties to seventies, that surely sat in the barbershops, hunting lodges, and gladiator locker-rooms that these manly men must have frequented. Maybe men back then were really just that manly?

Or maybe animals, back in the day, were just filled with a kind of hatred we soft men of the 21st Century can only imagine?

Check out more of these insane covers by clicking on "Read More" below.

Warning. Some of these covers and their captions could be construed as offensive.

DAILY ROUND-UP! 9/22/11

Today was okay but pretty non-committal. Tomorrow I will be 20% more committal.

FLASHBACK: DC UNIVERSE ONLINE CINEMATIC TRAILER

This awesome cinematic nearly made me consider picking up a copy of DC Universe. The only trailers more capable of this manner of devilry are those for Star Wars: The Old Republic but that's a subject for another day. For now, rediscover this awesome trailer or watch it for the first time.

FLASHBACK: YU YU HAKUSHO ABRIDGED EP. 1

I'm probably gonna start doing lots of "flashbacks" on off-days. Lanipator is one of the biggest voices in DBZ Abridged, as the voice of Vegeta and Krillin, and his abridged series that preceded his roles in Team Four Star is one of my favorite abridged series. FUN FACT: Kuwabara is probably not gay.

WISH I HAD A PORTAL GUN RAP

We all wish we could have a portal gun? OK?! We want them now. Now build me a portal gun so I can use it to create a mirror paradox that will drive my dog mad. Is it too much to ask you to break the laws of quantum mechanics?

 FLASHBACK: MARIK- OUT THERE

Another flashback to a classic video from Little Kuriboh. If you don't already know, Little Kuriboh is basically the reason that we have all abridged shows as we have them today. He has been making Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged episodes for..well...in internet years? FOREVER! This music video is a re-imagining of a Hunchback of Notre Dame song. The internet really wants me to enjoy that movie.

BONJOUR, GIRL!

The sassiest version of the opening song of Beauty and the Beast I have ever heard. This is my favorite Disney film, most likely, so I just love mocking it...(like all things I love.)

DISNEY WIN!
