WORD OF THE DAY! 6/25/13!

mayor [mehy-er]
noun
1. The chief executive official, usually elected, to run a village, town, city, etc.

EX. After years of being an abused tenant, in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you can be an abused mayor. Fun right?

I'm amazed it took the new Smash Bros. trailer for everyone to realize the horror of Animal Crossing... there is a lot of potential psychological trauma involved in the series and something is just off about everything. Everyone is mad, like in Wonderland, but not in an amusing or interesting way-- their madness is the madness of boredom, blandness, and monotony. Have I planted any seeds? Have I picked any weeds? Have I collected any fruit today? Have I collected any loot today? Have I gone shopping? Have I gone chopping? Have I caught any bugs today? Have I dug up bones today? Have I dug any graves today? Have I ever told you the definition of insanity?

MUSIC MONDAY! MISTER ROGER'S LEGEND OF ZELDA SCIENCE SANDWICH!

This week we start with another edutainment remix from the computations and hard work of John D. "melodysheep" Boswell(the mixer behind the Symphony of Science series). We've seen his work on another fantastic Mister Rogers remix in a past article (HERE) and I'm glad to see he is still working to bring fresh content to the internet with PBS.

Then I follow it up with some classic musical mayhem about the Gerudo with the Triforce of Power, Ganondorf! Not much to be said here but, if you do love a good video game themed musical romp, you should check out more from Random Encounters.

Animation Domination High Def have really managed to carve a gruesome niche into the body of youtube's cartoon corner and into the heart of my blog. I'm so glad to be subscribed to their content and I highly recommend you enjoy them before they get too big on Fox this Summer.

WORD OF THE DAY! 6/24/13!

human shield [hyoo-muhn-sheeld]
noun
1. A person or group of people located or intentionally placed in a potential line of fire or in an area likely to be attacked.

EX. His plan is so perfect! A human shield made of babies? Any potential hero would avoid that sorta collateral damage rather than be labeled as the "baby puncher"... I should add this to my list of incompetent yet genius ideas for when I become a sub par super villain.

WORD OF THE DAY! 6/23/13!

tumbling [tum-bling]
noun
1.  The act, practice, or art of performing acrobatic moves, usually on a mat or the ground.

EX. Since the introduction of skills into Dungeons and Dragons, there has been a disconnect between players and the mechanic. Redundancy and over-complication of the skill system is mostly a problem because, with nearly 30 skills, it is easy to overlook or misunderstand the use of these would-be simple abilities. One skill that is particularly overlooked by all but rogues is tumble-- there is a reason that in other games they rename the skill dodge or consolidate jump and tumble into acrobatics--because a) most people don't know, at a glance, what tumble does, b) you would think that someone good at tumbling would be good at jumping, and c) dodge is a skill that immediatly gets across the message and is clearly useful.
