MUSIC MON! CRUNKTASTIC WAIFU'S GUILE SANDWICH WITH CRANKSAUCE!

Let's kick it back into action with a music sammich that's two slices of whole anime with a few slices of video game deli meats that are dripping in cranksauce. See? I brought the sandwich metaphor back around to one of the specific songs in today's article. Pfft. Whatever dude. Just enjoy.

First up we have a sweet Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka AMVwith a perfectly paired song for an anime about magical girls with chain saws. I've never watched the anime but, reading that sentence to myself, I realize I've made a mistake and should correct that.

On a side note, I caught some Toonami on my trip to Florida and, I gotta say, the line-up right now is top notch-- DBZ Kai Uncut, Kill la Kill, Naruto Shippuden Uncut, etc.-- and, if you haven't watched it in a while, I recommend it for the English dub of Kill la Kill alone.

I own a few Street Fighter games. In fact, it seems Capcom is willing to give away copies of the franchise to get fans because I own two different version of Street Fighter 2 I didn't pay for and gave away a copy of Street Fighter 4 I didn't pay for. I am not a huge fan of fighting games, though I love arcade brawlers like the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series and of course dedicate a lot of time to Smash Bros, but I really appreciate the whacky reality that games like Street Fighter take place.

That and, being classic Capcom, the SF series has some awesome tracks. Guile Theme goes with anything.

Let's end this week's Music Monday mumblings with a chilled out groove featuring Hentai Dude that seems appropriate given the gorgeous weather I'm experiencing today. Yawn. I might just take a nap in a hammock...

...IF I HAD ONE, RANDY!

WTF WED! AN AMAZING ANIME WORLD OF ROBOTS, MONSTERS, & BARBARACLES!

Anime makes me smile. One such anime that I recently watched the first season of, in like two days, was The Devil is a Part Timer. It is a slice of life anime and, as far as I can tell, the appeal to such a show is going "oh that's cute" every ten minutes. It is a simple pleasure that I fear I don't want to cherish too much.

I also started Sword Art Online but took a hiatus from marathoning it to get back to finishing my Fringe marathon. Media consumption. Mmm...

I don't know anything about Gumball except that it is a European Cartoon Network production about a cat and his fish and stuff. But this animation is very cute.

That is all that has to be said, really. Deal with it.

BARBARACLE? BARBARACLE... BARBARACLE!

Sorry I don't have more to say. Just spent a couple hours trying to get Google websites, like blogger, to work. I am tired and irritated. Good day.

WORD OF THE DAY! 1/21/14!

anthology [an-thol-uh-jee]
noun
1. A book or other collection of selected writings by various authors, usually in the same literary form, of the same period, or on the same subject.

EX. So, I think it's been about a hot minute since we had any ponies on my blog, but the third installment of the Ponies Anthology is a perfect excuse. In the same vein of AMV Hell, the Ponies Antholgies are a collected montage of scenes taken from dozens of independently created works, collaborations, and other fan videos related to Hasbro's My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. They are edited together into something both easily digestible and attention holding, adding in special projects created especially for the anthology, to celebrate another year of the fandom's work.

Even if you're not a fan of MLP, you can probably appreciate a lot or at least some of the humor and definitely appreciate the effort. Similar fan efforts have produced other projects like MLPFiM: Double Rainboom and Rainbow Dash Presents.

Enjoy or not. Shrug. I indulged in one of my interests for an article and will now return to my usual programming.

If you want to learn more about this recently emerged, slightly marginalized, and ever-growing fandom, check out the recent Bronies documentary narrated by John De Lancie.

MUSICAL MONDAY! LIVETUNE: TRANSFER AMV!

MUSICAL MONDAY PRESENTS

Sometimes I like to give you guy's something a little out there and the amazingly intricate and gorgeous animated music video of the Japanese doujin music group is certainly not our usual fair. I've done some weird AMV stuff before (CLICK HERE), but let me explain a little bit about this video and/or this subgenre of Japanese music.

Doujin are a special fan genre or fan fiction in Japan that would be practically unachievable in the United States due to our far stricter copyright and property protection laws; Doujin is when an artist or artists take an official product's character and create a profitable fan-fiction out of it. A small warning before you go looking for Doujin of your favorite works, much like the American cartoonist's fan works, there is a lot of pornographic Doujin. So, just be weary.

As for the subgenre of doujin music, often made as compilations and remixes of popular music/themes of video games or anime, it is more of a style of production than subgenre. What caught my attention in this video is the amazing blending of style and pacing of animation that make it a simply beautiful, hypnotic, and stunning spectacle of Japanese animation.

Anywho, I hope you guys enjoy the music video and keep checking in for more interesting material from the best that the web has to offer. As always, I'm your humble internet guide. Thank you and please comment/subscribe.

MUSICAL MONDAY! VOLTAIRE!

Musical Monday Presents:
VOLTAIRE's WHEN YOU'RE EVIL
So, what is that I want in my music? I don't really listen to music for the same reasons that make popular music well, for lack of a better word, popular. I tend to love a narrative in my songs. The difference between a musician and a musical technician is a simple one:

The musical technician can play an instrument, whether that be their voice, guitar, or a triangle, but that's it. A musician is an artist, a poet, and, on top of that, can play an instrument. Today's subject, Voltaire, knows how to tell a good story. In fact, you've probably enjoyed at least on of his songs already.

Voltaire is an artist who has directed several shorts, commercials and short films for MTV, Syfy, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. He has also written several books on goth culture. His station IDs are quite memorably for their morbid humor and dark style. Anyone remember this?

You can check out the rest of his videos on his youtube channel linked below.

But we're here to talk about a couple of awesome songs he has done. First, lets get the one you most certainly know out of the way. Do you remember the Brains Episode of Billy and Mandy? Voltaire is the evil brain eating monster with the swing music to sway his prey into his tentacled maw! You can watch the whole short below (its only about 8 minutes).

But what caught my attention was a funky little single called, When You're Evil. I am not gonna lie, I found it while looking around for interest PMVs (biggest thing since AMVs). The song is so much fun and filled with a incorrigible level of devilish glee. To check it out I'll link a non-pony and a pony version below.
