2. an embarrassing social blunder or indiscretion.

EX. Windsor regretted taking his pet koala, Percival, to the funeral of his late aunt, Madame Kristine Pifferby. The uncouth koala had committed a foul faux pas when it spit into the open grave his dearly departed aunt.
