WORD OF THE DAY! 1/21/14!

anthology [an-thol-uh-jee]
noun
1. A book or other collection of selected writings by various authors, usually in the same literary form, of the same period, or on the same subject.

EX. So, I think it's been about a hot minute since we had any ponies on my blog, but the third installment of the Ponies Anthology is a perfect excuse. In the same vein of AMV Hell, the Ponies Antholgies are a collected montage of scenes taken from dozens of independently created works, collaborations, and other fan videos related to Hasbro's My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. They are edited together into something both easily digestible and attention holding, adding in special projects created especially for the anthology, to celebrate another year of the fandom's work.

Even if you're not a fan of MLP, you can probably appreciate a lot or at least some of the humor and definitely appreciate the effort. Similar fan efforts have produced other projects like MLPFiM: Double Rainboom and Rainbow Dash Presents.

Enjoy or not. Shrug. I indulged in one of my interests for an article and will now return to my usual programming.

If you want to learn more about this recently emerged, slightly marginalized, and ever-growing fandom, check out the recent Bronies documentary narrated by John De Lancie.

WTF WORD OF THE DAY! 2/24/13. MAYBE NSFW.

APOLIGIES-DESU TO ANYONE IS OFFENDEDESU! WHEN & IF I POST AN ARTICLE WITH "WTF" IN THE TITLE, THAT SHOULD MAKE IT CLEAR YOU NEED TO BE OPEN-MINDED & STUFFS, FRIENDO.
hot diggity dog [hawt-dig-it-ee-dawg]
interjection
1. An exclamation of excitement.

EX. Hot diggity dog! I've decided to share with you a series that smashes together the stylings of Ren & Stimpy with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, thrown into a burlap sack, and then drowned in a river of butt-hurt.

WEEKLY ROUND-UP! 1/28-2/3/13!

WEEKLY ROUND-UP PRESENTS
"POKE-VENTURE TIME!" WEEK

7. WORD OF THE DAY. 1/28/13. Fugue.

I've posited some kooky Pokemon theories, but the idea of Ash Ketchum having fugue is silly. Click here for a more plausible theory behind Ash's eternal youth as well as ten other neato fan theories/stuff.

6. WTF WED! LIGHTSABER FIGHTSABER + EGORAPTOR SCREAMS!

I'm actually working on a sequel to this article after I was inspired by the loop of Egoraptor screaming.

5. WORD OF THE DAY. 1/30/13. Breeding.

Jigglycruel is 10x cooler than Pikablu ever was- no he's even 10x cooler than that crappy Mewthree we imagined would be revealed after Mewtwo (and considering the one I imagine was a cyborg with wings that's pretty "cool").

4. MUSICAL MON! FERRETS PETTING BRONIES!

The secret to a good Musical Mon or WTF Wed article is to do one of two things: have a surefire winner that appeals to a wide audience or go for a variety. This article nails both by making sure to hit very different tones with each video (with the last video probably worthy of its own article).

3. WORD OF THE DAY! 2/2/13. Intestinal Fortitude.

Another article on a Nickelodeon classic for your pleasure. (Remember Legends of the Hidden Temple?)

2. POKEMONS OF THE WEEK: TENTACOOL & TENTACRUEL

You know I was never a huge fan of the tentacled duo, but writing this article has given me something of a better appreciation for what makes them "Tenta-Cool".

1. TABLETOP TALES: MY GATECRASH PRE-RELEASE!

I may have gone 2 Ws and 3 Ls at the Gatecrash Pre-Release, but the only thing I regret was that I didn't try to have more fun (best advice for any sort of MtG event is get plenty of sleep the night before (I was operating on 3 hrs)). Regardless of my losses and mistakes, I'm glad I chose to make a three color deck with what I had to work with.

MUSICAL MON! FERRETS PETTING BRONIES!

MUSICAL MONDAY PRESENTS

First up this week, we got a classic video from the maniac musician and mutilat-- I mean animator, secretagentbob/film cow of Charlie the Unicorn fame/infamy. Humor is, first and foremost, the art of the unexpected and uncomfortable. This is the reason why physical humor (tripping) works, the reason that after thousands of years people still chuckle at potty humor (farting), and this is the reason that every punchline in the history of comedy works (timing). Its all about setting up expectations in your audience and then surprising them in some way-- it helps that this jaunty tune sounds like it could be a real song on a kid's show or film or in the early 20th century or in American Psycho.

Next up, we got a videogamedunkey affair with his hit single and perhaps deep analysis/criticism of modernity with the addictively duncetastic PET ME HORSE! Personally, it reminds me of the little internal rhythm we all develop from playing a video game or that it is about touchscreen gaming's gameplay coming down to petting the screen or its just a very silly video from a very silly person with a good sense of humor. Shrug. It's stuff like this that makes me have to decide whether stuff belongs in WTF WEDs or Musical Mons.

Last but not least, I bet you would've found it hard to imagine John Delancie (of Star Trek fame as the super being Q) would be involved with a documentary on the biggest and most proposterous nerd/internet subculture in years, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's brony community. Even more so, this video is delightful and I think most people, unless they just hate bronies, might find it entertaining and perhaps a little educational about this slightly awkward (but enjoyable) subculture (that I am a part of). If you like it and want to know more, this video is just a portion of a full-length documentary hosted and narrated by John Delancie who became interested in the show after playing a villain in the second season only to discover that he had a whole new community of fans.
