1. A range of characteristics from masculine to feminine, with androgyny in the middle, that are used to define someone's sexual identity.

EX. One of the first questions that you're asked in all the Pokemon games, from Pokemon Crystal on, was "Are you a boy? Or are you a girl?" The game gives you the question so that you can define your character by determining their gender. The results of this choice are fairly impotent; with the obvious change of your avatar's appearance, to the gender of your rival, but nothing significant. Because this choice doesn't affect your character's physical traits in any sort of significant way, this decision has more to do with gender, that is identity, rather than sex, which is biological.

Perhaps in the future there will be more flexibility in this decision...or perhaps not. Its hard to say. But I know I'm not the only one to do a playthrough of Pokemon as a female sprite for the novelty. At least once.

EX. Meanwhile in this week's escapade the Caped Crusader and Boy Wonder find themselves on a giant treadmill with a pair of man-eating corgis, courtesy of Cat-Woman's alternate universe counterpart Dog-Man.

"Queen of England's corgis, Batman!" Robin wheezed, "I told you that you needed to better categorize your utility belt!"

"What ever do you mean?" Batman asked.

"You forgot which pocket has dog repellent and, more importantly, which pocket has dog biscuits!" Robin squeaked.

2. WORD OF THE DAY! 10/14/12. Snapshot.

Every now and then, I gotta sit back and appreciate my favorite video game franchise; Pokemon. From Pokemon Blue to Pokemon Pinball to Pokemon Snap to Pokemon Stadium and so on and so forth, the Pocket Monster franchise has stood the test of time for over 15 years. It is the pillar that my blog leans on and will continue to evolve into the future.

1. TABLETOP TALES! NARUTO RPG! Sir Taihouji of the House of the Golden Dragon!

 The winning article, and probably best Tabletop Tales I've written in a good while, was my breakdown of my Naruto Pen & Paper RPG character's amazing background story. For some fun tidbits, he had the following nicknames: "Captain One-Liner", "Little Leonidas", "Leonidas Jr.", and much more. I kinda wanna call him "Charlemagne Brown".

SUPER MARIO LAND W/ LYRICS!

Today's Musical Monday is a brentalfloss and featuring Dave Bulmer is about a video game that I have a rather personal and nostalgic relationship. In many ways, Super Mario Land is one of the lost Mario games; it was 1989 and Nintendo's handheld Game Boy console was a new piece of hardware. I hadn't even been born when this game came out, but the Game Boy and several cartridges (including the equally important Tetris & Tetris II) were the first video games my Dad bought in the names of, someday, being able to share it with his son. And it was the first console I think I ever played and I played it a lot.

Road trips, which we took a lot of between visiting my grandparents in TN and moving every two years or so, were quite common in my childhood. I used to carry around a backpack full of books, but the entertainment I remember most fondly was my Game Boy. Super Mario Land was rather special as it was probably my default game (after Tetris II) and I can remember having to ask adults to help me figure out harder parts of the game.

The colors were shades of green and black, it was hard to see the screen in the sunlight, and it weighed about 3/4s of a pound when I had the rechargable battery pack plugged into the back of the sucker. It was the first console I ever really had, the first console I ever had to play Pokemon on, and it will always have a special place in my heart. When you consider the fact that I didn't get a Color Game Boy until about 1999-2000 (I remember it was when they rolled out Pokemon Gold/Silver), you can understand how the only portable console I had for ten years would leave a very serious impression on me when compared to modern portables which get new iterations every twelve months...(I'm looking at you 3DS XL)

3. Informal. A brief appraisal, summary, or profile.

EX. Pokemon Snap is a game I really need to do a review for, but while I'm here lemme just give you a snapshot of one of the unspoken classics of the N64. Pokemon is a rail-shooter where, instead of shooting pokemon, you attempt to take pictures of them for Professor Oak. You could change the pokemon that would show up, change their attitudes, and get them to do various things, ex. make Pikachu hop on a surf board, by throwing apples to attract them and repellent balls to either scare them off or make them woozy enough to slow them down. The game has its charm and I'd recommend it to any Pokemon fan.

BONUS: Surfing in Five Generations of Pokemon. I could point out the various reason G-5's art style and presentation is better, but I think its obvious why.
