MIXED BAG. PRESENTS

LOOT CRATE JUNE 2015
"CYBER" REVIEW: ARE YOU SARAH CONNOR?

Hey we haven't had an update of my life in a minute, so let's talk:
  • Two of my best friends got married-- congratulations to Lord and Lady Shavers.
  • I binge-watched the entire series run (thus far) of Steven Universe and it has consumed my feels.
  • I began going to my comic book and collectibles store, Comic Cellar, again, to play board games and draft Magic the Gathering.
  • I've been playing Far Cry 4, Splatoon, Smash Bros., League of Legends, and Dark Souls.
  • I began working on my first cosplay since I dressed up as Coach from Left 4 Dead 2 to attend a zombie walk (pictured below). I'm gonna make a Solaire of Astora costume from Dark Souls for Anime Blues Con.

Now, let's talk about Loot Crate:

Loot Crate is a subscription based service where members pay a fee (based on their subscription plan) to receive a themed mystery box every month in the mail (last month's theme, pictured above, was "Villains") filled with nerdy products from companies like Nintendo, DC, Marvel, Capcom and much more. The contents of the box usually contain things like exclusive figures, a t-shirt, a magnet, pin/s, posters, comics, books, toys, and pretty much everything you can think of from "dragon-flavored" Jerky in April's "Dragon" Loot Crate to Deadpool socks (pictured above).

This is the perfect surprise for self-professed nerds that love cool stuff and weird stuff alike.

If you're lucky, you might even be the lucky member to get the monthly Mega Crate which always has a value of $750 or more!

And so, for as low as $11.67 + $6 SH, you can become a Looter too! Plus, if you use any of the various codes you can find online, you can get discounts.

This is my eighth Loot Crate review. If you wanna check out last month's review for May 2015 "UNITE" Loot Crate, check out the link HERE.

WTF WED! BEAR AND BUNNY BOO 2: AGE OF CONSOLES WARS!

Speedosausage may have some seriously problems when it comes to tonal shifts between gross over-sexualization and violence to cuteness that borders on somehow being even more visually disturbing than the former adult content. HAHAHA! STOP!

While, I don't think Age of Ultron was necessarily the best Marvel film, I still stand by the villain of the film as being one of the most entertaining villain since Loki (though I have a special place for Ronan and don't get me started on Netflix's Daredevil's Kingpin) and this mash-up is rather masterful, short and sweet. Check it out.

I really wanted E3 2015 to help me pick between Xbox One and PS4 for my next console purchase but, once again, I was left with only a couple worthwhile exclusives on each console and none of them were worth paying $400+ to enjoy.

WORD OF THE DAY! 6/30/15! (UNBOX-KING #19 META KNIGHT AMIIBO...)

metagame [meh-tuh-geym]
noun
1. Any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game.

EX. Meta Knight, legendarily, was a metagame breaking character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl that, in order to keep the competitive scene interesting, was often banned from tournaments. Other examples of metagame can be found in everything from messing with the knowledge/skillset of your opponent in chess to gaming the metagame of your local Friday Night Magic by playing against the preferences of the usuals by building a deck that counters their favored archetypes.

Honestly, understanding and gaming the metagame is often the most important part of competitive sports and games these days.
