MUSIC MON! I MISS CREEPY INTERSTELLAR HORROR AND SPACE GAME SEQUELS!

Sometimes I miss sleep. Sometimes I miss more sleep.
Sometimes I miss creep. Sometimes I miss more creep.

League of Legends can be a meat grinder.

But it is nothing compared to the emotional meat grinder that the characters go through in my second favorite film of 2014, Interstellar. The film's thesis is like a blackhole: dark and empty and all-consuming but tinged with light. Maybe I'm stretching for an analogy but, for a three hour long film, I really enjoyed the experience.

Prey 2 is dead. Long live Prey 2?

MUSIC MON! ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF GET JINXED!

I can't believe it has been a whole year since I GOT JINXED but here I am and another season of League is drawing to a close!

It seems rather portentous that, as I scramble to close in on a decent rank before the end of the season, that I find myself playing Jinx regularly again. The champ still has tons of flavor and competitive edge! (And, seriously, with Cait as my main, it is obvious that Piltover is my favorite part of the game's lore by a bit.)

It remains to be seen whether I'll achieve my goals in improving my league game, but you can bet ya'll be the first to know.

And as a way to celebrate the world championships, Riot got Imagine Dragons to collaborate on a special music video to hype up the fans for the big time games. Neat.

And yet, while I love League, I have to remember that it is a game that can bring you to tears of fury and desperation. This is a game that intimidates many newcomers, makes players uninstall and has probably caused a good deal of property damage or worse. Like anything competitive, it is a mix of the frustration of the climb with the gnawing trash talk of your opponents and, worse, troll teammates that drag you down.

Still, I haven't quit yet and have become a lot more mellow as I've played the game.

That's why I'm ready for ranked and for next season.

Here's to another year, Summoners.

MUSIC MON! SUPER DUNKEY SUNSHINE SHARK PENTAKILL EDITION!

Super Mario Sunshine isn't a bad game (just check out this review). In fact, it is a good game. It is just a mediocre Mario game.

Put down your pitchforks and torches millennial Nintendo fans; I still own it and might play it again some day. But I'd much rather play the simpler but superior Super Mario 64 or the worlds better Super Mario Galaxy 1 or 2 or my new favorite obsession Super Mario 3D World. If that is a crime, I'll go down for it. Probably do some community service on a tropical island of awful potato people by cleaning graffiti. Sounds like every kids dream.

On the subject of good Mario games, I'm definitely picking up Mario Kart 8 on the Wii-U! Not only is it gonna be a great game to play with my friends, but it has great value. Nintendo Club is giving away free codes for digital copies of New Super Mario Bros. Wii-U, Pikmin 3, Windwaker HD, or Wii-U Party to anyone who registers their copy of Mario Kart 8 between May 30th and July 31st.

That is a killer deal.

P.S. Seriously, try the Wii-U. It is the only console I've used lately.

Dunkey's new Album just hit the digital streets (for $10 (or more) or free) and I gotta say that his rhymes always put me in the mood to play League of Legends (currently, still my go to video game) because he pumps me up, cracks me up, and like a good gank, sets me up!

P.S. If I keep getting in shape, I'd like to try Rule 63 cosplay of Vi. Maybe some day.

Little Mermaid parodies will never get old.

That's all I really gotta say about this one, sorry. Move along folks. There is nothing else to see here except for the closing .gif.

WORD OF THE DAY! 4/3/14! (LOL UPDATE)

Urf Day [erf-dehy]
noun
1. League of Legends. A holiday or event in the League of Legends community commemorating the anniversary of the tragic death of Urf, the Manatee on April 1st 2010.

EX. Urf was taken too soon at the claws of Warwick and the LoL community has held Urf Day every April 1st since in remembrance of the tragedy. Every year they've commemorated his demise in many different ways-- from new Urf-themed skins to special contests to charity for manatee conservation to a Cho'Gath themed game-- and this year was no different. Well, actually, this year was really different because this year we got...

ULTRA RAPID FIRE (MODE) [ul-chra-rap-id-fahyr]
noun
1. League of Legends. A limited time game mode released as part of the Urf Day celebration, paraded comically as "the future of League of Legends", the game mode takes place on Summoner's Rift and is extremely imbalanced with Ryze and Kassadin being removed, other champions being buffed or nerfed, and the following buff being ever-present:

(Editior's Note: The mode is a ton of fun, favoring champions usually limited by their mana pool and cooldowns, EX. Sona, Soraka, Skarner, etc. I like it, but unless you pick broke champions you will most likely not have a lot of fun. I don't think it is better than normal Summoner's Rift. But it is a refreshing break from the normal game.)

And if you lose, you get a special end-screen.

WORD OF THE DAY! 3/29/14! (LOL UPDATE)

team builder [teem-bil-der]
noun
1. League of Legends. A game mode where a players preemptively pick characters and positions and are teamed with players filling the other roles.

EX. Team builder is here. So I'm gonna go play some League of Legends. But before I go, lemme talk a little bit about the new game mode:

First, you either choose to host a game or find a game.

The host of a game picks a character and role, and the others roles they want, and then begins searching for players that picked those other roles.

The other players pick the other roles. If the host doesn't like a character or player, than can ban them before starting.

That's it.

MUSIC MON! ROBOHORSE SOLO-SLAYS DRAGON & THEN BARON NASHOR!

Sometimes what America needs is the sort of hero that is simultaneously a robot and simultaneously a horse and simultaneously a cyborg and simultaneously a good caretaker of infants.

Sometimes we need a robohorse. Correct?

Then we've got the newest single from Ninja Sex Party.

This video has a lot of things that I'm sure you're looking for in a music video: dragon-slaying Danny Sexbangs, girls with pink hair, guys in dragon & unicorn onesies, Ninja Brians, Dragon Dances, Jewish weddings, and even the Manticore.

Fun fact: Ninja Brian is a theoretical physicist specializing in string theory and supersymmetry when not running around and killing people around Dan. Seriously.

I've been playing as much League as I can lately cuz I want to build up my character roster a little bit before working to force my position in ranked. I'm shooting for Silver, since my previous best was Bronze 1, but need to crystallize the position I want to play most in ranked. I've been playing a lot of Jungle lately, so I might play Jungle solo, and I've been experimenting with a bunch of different supports, including Zac.

As always, I'll keep you updated.

Brought to you by Mahou Shoujo Aatrox!

WORD OF THE DAY! 1/14/13! (LoL)

retro [retch-roh]
adjective
1. Of or related to or designating the style of an earlier time.

EX. I love the idea of a retro futuristic Jinx skin. There is something equally kitsch and cool about the 1950's/60's science fiction aesthetic, used in fiction and advertising, that I cant quite deny will always be, at worst, cartoony fun and, at best, stlylish & timeless.

Check out some more awesome fanart below:

WEEKLY ROUND-UP! OCT. 7- OCT. 12/13!

POKÉMON X & Y WEEK!

7. WORD OF THE DAY! 10/11/13! Pageantry.

I had to take a week off to catch-up on my copy of Pokémon X and to start my new job working overnight flow team at my local Target.

6. WTF WED! MONKEYS, MCDONALD'S, F***S, COLD PIZZA, & THAT'S SO COREY!

And, so far, I love my new job.

5. WORD OF THE DAY! 10/9/13! Mirror match.

Riot revealed that the glitched mirror matches are actually part of a new mode their developing called "One For All".

4. WORD OF THE DAY! 10/8/13! Yep & Virality.

The shifts of my job, from 4 AM to 9:30 AM, actually being traditionally when I sleep, are tricky but I'm getting used to the shifts.

3. MUSIC MONDAY! TREEHOUSE OF HORRIBLE JONTRONS & QUEEBLOS!

Also, I'm loving my first runthrough of Pokémon X!

2. WORD OF THE DAY! 10/12/13! NERDCULTURE SMACKDOWN! POKÉMON X & Y UPDATE! #4

But I do have some qualms with it that I'll detail in my blog articles about my experiences: some newer features are poorly integrated, there don't seem to be enough new Pokémon, & the endgame is practically nonexistent. Still, I think I'm gonna wind up liking 6th Generation more than 5th Generation.

1. WORD OF THE DAY! 10/10/13! Jinx.

Also, Jinx is super OP. I still play lots of League and plan to continue doing so.

WORD OF THE DAY! 10/10/13!

jinx [jeenks]
noun
1. A person, idea, or thing that brings bad luck.
2. An exclamation used when two or more people say the same word at the same time. Until this silly game is resolve, the individuals who were "jinxed" cannot speak until they meet a specific criteria such as someone saying their name or buying the "jinxer" a Coke.
verb
2. To bring bad luck or to curse someone.
3. To destroy the point of an action or idea.

EX. The NuFu clan and implejr (that's me) have their differences; for example, several of them hold superstitions and I , for a number of reasons ranging from my skeptical nature to controlling my own neurosis & OCD, take a, at the best of times, optimistic and/or, at the worst of times, sadistic pleasure in ignoring, arguing, or even mocking such silliness. For example, in a game of Summoner's Rift on LoL (That's "League of Legends" for the uninitiated), I might say something like, "I think we're turning this around, guys!"

Now, when I say this on the fly and not to pester them, I say optimistic stuff to give myself a little boost of confidence and hopefully reassure my teammates. And yet... when they hear this, they groan and say that "I'm jinxing them." As someone who doesn't believe in such silly superstition, as much as someone who is a member of a species as illogical as our own can be, I'll even admit I believed in Santa Claus far past the point of appropriate suspension of disbelief and have participated in theatre superstition, I usually have a little friendly laugh at their frustration. This sort of disrespectful behavior reminds me of the newest champion coming to League of Legends...

Here we've got a fun new champ that falls right into my playstyle of dealing damage at a distance and being able to escape in a hurry with the most petty psychopath to ever terrorize Piltover, Jinx.

The champion was first teased in the log-in screen splash for the Pool Party Update (not the arm with the pink bullet and blue smoke tattoos)  and then Vi's page was vandalized by a mysterious X figure. I've actually talked about Vi and Piltover in a previous article about my favorite ADC and the Sheriff of Piltover, Caitlyn.Well, it seem that our newest champ, #166 or, in roman numerals CVIX ("C" for Caitlyn, "VI" for Vi, and "X" for Jinx) is the sort of super criminal that Piltover not only deserves but needs. After all, what would Batman be without the Joker?

Jinx's full history is a bit of a mystery, but here's the official lore: both Caitlyn and VI, partners in fighting crime, have been teased by a villain with the calling card of "X". Starting a crime spree legendary enough to get her admission into the League of Legends, Jinx earned her name through the chaos that follows in her wake and put Piltover's finest to the test. She seems to take particular pleasure in frustrating Vi, whom she calls "Fat Hands", and, after destroying the Piltover treasury with Vi inside, to add insult to the literal injuries that Vi suffered, Jinx left a simple note: "You'll never catch me!"

As with any champion, Jinx has her inspirations in fiction and the real world; a punk girl aesthetic mixed with themes and elements of the Joker & Harley Quinn(Dark Knight graffiti, pale skin, make-up, laughter, petite femme fatale with a rocket launcher), Gollum (she talks to her rocket launcher, Fishbones), and Helen Bonham Carter (there is a certain Tim Burtonesque mania about her features).

As for her kit, they might as well have called her the "Glass Cannon" because she is all about dealing damage, kiting, disengaging, reengaging, and clean-up. Her passive "GET EXCITED!" gives her a massive but temporary speed boost every time she kills or assists in killing a foe or turret. This allows her to chase down and kill weak opponents, as well as flee in a pinch. Her Q "Switcheroo!" allows her to switch her autoattacks between a short-ranged but fast firing minigun, Pow-Pow, for dueling and a long-ranged rocket launcher, Fishbones, for AOE crit mayhem, giving her a lot of flexibility in fights. Her W "Zap!" is a long range skillshot that reveals the first opponent struck and slows them, which is great for escaping or chasing down foes. Her E "Flame Chompers!" fires three mines that, if stepped on by an opponent, blow up, and root them to allow her to catch or an escape other champs in a pinch or set up team fights. Her Ult "Super Mega Death Rocket!" is a global rocket she can fire that flies in a straight line, hitting the first enemy champ in it's path, and blowing up for massive AOE damage. This allows her to finish off opponents and, the best part, is the farther they travel, the more damage they do.

Jinx is a champ I'll definitely be picking up ASAP. After all, even a Neutral Good sap like me can get into a bit of spastic chaos every now and then. Plus, I can't say no to a super villainess who talks to her guns. DeadpoolxJinx OTP!

P.S. JINX! DOUBLE-JINX! TRIPLE DOUBLE-DOGGY DARE JINX! JINX LOG-IN SCREEN!

C'mon and join the mayhem.
