MUSIC MON! PSY'S OLD SPICY KOREAN CABBAGE PRAYER TO GANGNAM GRUMPS!
Oh boy! Time for a late late late MLK Day Musical Monday!
The first song in our trio of tra-la-la is the newest viral advertising campaign from the deodorant company, Old Spice, that brought us THIS and THIS and so much more entertainment in the name of trying to sell us on a deodorant that, unlike some of its other competitors, won't leave you smelling like a teenage boy's jockstrap. Instead, it seems, Old Spice uses a combination of insanely bizarre comedy and the pitch that using the spray will turn you into a "man", not basically attract girls like honey to flies, but instead give of an air of masculine maturity.
None of these commercials have managed to bring this note home quite like this lilting little piece of lunacy in the form of having a dozen mothers lament the loss of their little baby boys to the lovely young ladies attracted to their more mature scent.
You know what goes good with Old Spice?
Guile's Theme.
I don't know if you guys knew this but, on the internet, it is a well-known rule; Guile's Theme from Street Fighter goes with everything. You can combine the catchy little tune with just about anything to create something that will pump just about anything up to eleven. Seriously, you should try it before you knock it. It even goes with ponies.
And as for Game Grumps...
...they can take any musical experience from a passable bit of entertainment and elevate into something that most people would be too ashamed to record, much less share with over a million subscribers, and probably give their art to the government a la Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
It is beauty, it is grace, it is Grump.

MUSICAL MONDAY! GANGNAM STYLE PARODY DOUBLE FEATURE!
MUSICAL MONDAY PRESENTS
I've talked about how much I love John Carpenter's The Thing, but my favorite John Carpenter film is the cheesetastic film, Big Trouble in Little China starring Kurt Russell, Kim Catrell, Wang Chi, Victor Wong, and of course, James Hong in his most iconic role as "David" Lo Pan. Hong's performance as the sorcerer relies on his amazingly honed delivery, both through his voice (and he is an awesome voice actor) and his facial expressions, that nail the exuberant evil of the role.
Lo Pan is a great villain; as David Lo Pan, he is an ancient, creepy, insane, perverted, and funny crypt keeper in a wheel chair and as the seven foot tall demigod he delivers with intense expressions. The best part of the Gangnam style parody linked above, btw, is Hong actually makes a cameo!
As for my feelings on Big Trouble in Little China, it should be no surprise that I give it a 5/5.

WEEKLY ROUND-UP! 9/24-9/30/12.
WEEKLY ROUND-UP PRESENTS
OPPA GANGNAM STYLE WEEK!
I am the Unicorn. I am, therefore,
Unique.” The beast said, in Englishman’s words,
“Henceforth, I am the King of the Forest!” -A Sonnet about a Horse
6. MUSICAL MON! THE EMOTIONAL CLAWS & HAN SOLO GANGNAME STYLE!
"If only a beast like me could make music and make people smile...maybe there wouldn't be so much...war."
5. WORD OF THE DAY! 9/29/12. Mass Effect.
I swear I'll play Mass Effect 3 next time I get a break; I loved the first two games, but I really need some time to be able to dedicate to that game (I'm a 100% completionist in the first two games). Who was your favorite companion? Mine was Wrex.
4. WORD OF THE DAY. 9/27/12. Blowing...
According to the article I am citing in this Word of the Day, as well as Nintendo, the image to the right (or above on a mobile device) is incorrect and blowing into cartridges are a bad idea. Apparently, we've all been hurting out carts over the years.
3. WTF WED! GAME GRUMPING BREVITY WITH PORTALS!While I do love some good animation and this week's stuff was awesome, I miss doing weirder and more thinky stuff. Hmm....
2. WORD OF THE DAY! 9/30/12. Conclave.
I actually loved writing this little preview/primer article about my choices for the pre-release and I think I might try to do more magic articles, if you guys like that sort of thing. If you do, lemme know, and I'll share more of my thoughts on the subject. I want to work for Wizard some day so I like to talk/think about Magic and D & D a lot.
1. WORD OF THE DAY! 9/24/12. Life support.
And I think my most interesting article from last week was the comparison between The Dark Knight Rises villain Bane and Star Wars's Darth Vader. Character comparison! W007!

MUSICAL MONDAY! THE EMOTIONAL CLAWS & HAN SOLO GANGNAME STYLE!
MUSICAL MONDAY PRESENTS
I think what sets Game Grumps aside from every other Let's Play series on the planet is two factors: first and foremost, the personalities and improvisation of Jon Jafari AKA Jon Tron and Arin Hanson AKA Egoraptor. The second factor that makes it incredibly infectious is the enthusiasm of the fan base and their creativity. I've shared some Game Grumps in the past (CHECK THIS OUT) and this week I had to share the results of an improvised musical based on the TMNT character, War. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do.
And as a sweetener, a couple of bonus videos:
&
The second video is from my friend, omgitskazer, who has just gotten back into making videos, including his video game advice video series KAZER VS. What I like about the Halo Machinima posted above is that is both explained Gangnam Style in a mature and smart way, in an interesting format, and ended with a laugh. Good stuff.
