WORD OF THE DAY! 4/26/16!

barrel roll [behr-uhl-rol]
noun
1. An aerial maneuver in which the airplane makes a complete rotation while maintain forward momentum at all times.

I featured these cool independently produced fan animations based on the Star Fox characters last year and, finally, after years of hard work of "Fredryk Phox" and his comrades, we have an episode length pilot. And it is fantastic.

They took the characters and setting of the Star Fox franchise, animated them into a more adult style reminiscent of the jazzy Fritz the Cat meeting Bojack Horseman's dry wit and rolled up together in a way that is so good you'd swear you were watching the pilot for a new Adult Swim show.  The music and voice acting just add to the aesthetic of this brilliant piece of hand animation that was clearly a passion project. I really hope there is more coming and just hope Nintendo or someone else doesn't kill it. This is why the internet exists.

THIS.

And it comes out right on the heels of a new Star Fox game (which may or may not be one of the worst disappointments of the year) and a Star Fox anime short (which is so-so). The latter of which you can enjoy in the link below!

WORD OF THE DAY! 6/18/13!

fatherly [faw-ther-lee]
adjective
1. Of or befitting the manner/isms of a father, especially a good or attentive father.

EX. Yo, just throwing up this amazing dorkly comic about fatherly love in the video game universe and, considering all the father themes in Man of Steel, I'd recommend taking your pop or pop-like figure to see the flick this week. Yes, I'm recommending a film to word of the day articles in a row. Sue me.

WEEKLY ROUND-UP! 9/10-9/16/12.

WEEKLY ROUND-UP PRESENTS

7.WORD OF THE DAY. 9/14/12. Hobbledehoy.

Just curious (if anyone reads these), does anybody out there really like Slippy? I don't despise him and I can't imagine Starfox without him, but I'm just curious to know if he has any fans.

6. WTF WED! ZUBATS & CATS & RAPTORS, OH MY!

Last week's WTF Wednesday was a rather enjoyable hodgepodge of weirdery and I hope that you enjoyed it. Mmyes.

5. WORD OF THE DAY! 9/11/12. Handheld gaming.

I really need to get back to playing Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker some time...

4. WORD OF THE DAY! 9/12/12. Pulverize.

This last week I've been playing a lot of Banjo Kazooie. Any retro games you'd like to recommend?

3. MUSICAL MONDAY! JONTRON SCOOBSTEP MUSCLE MUSIC!

And I started the week with a trio of songs ranging from dubstep remix to insane human instruments.

2. WORD OF THE DAY. 9/15/12. Gremlin.

Few things are more entertaining than me sharing a terrifying experience from my childhood, right? Wait until I talk about the repeating nightmare where a mix of Child's Play and Star Fox ruins everything.

1. WORD OF THE DAY! 9/13/12. Cat-astrophe.

I don't have to apologize for anything...sometimes I just want to write something silly to get it out of my system.

DAILY ROUND-UP. 9/12/11

Been a couple of dry days on the internet but here are the scraps!

brentalfloss has just released his newest video where he does a rather crude parody of the Pokemon theme song from our childhoods. I don't think its his best video but it is always great to see a new video from the floss man and even better to get a shot of pokemon love.

I am not a huge Spidey fan but I definitely appreciate the character for his humor and as a symbol of good.

Another brentalfloss video. This image made me wanna post it. Cute dog + awesome video = barrel rolls of laughter and win.

Found out about this guy yesterday and just had to recommend his hard rocking stuff. I love this whole thing. Is 8-Bit Rock the next awesome sub-genre of music?

Star Trek's John "Q" de Lancie is going to play a dragon in the premier of MLP: FIM Season 2. That makes the next season 20% cooler like a mother f***er! I am a fan of this show and Star Trek: Next Generation. How can I say no?

I can only respond to how much I can't wait for Skyrim with the following video.

Freddie Wong has become everyone favorite special effects guy on youtube and his newest video makes me crave the mean streets of Liberty City.

A bunch of cosplayers got together at Dragoncon and went to the awesome Atlanta Aquarium in costume to take some awesome pictures. I love bioshock, I love cosplay and I love the frickin' aquarium (whale sharks for the win).

DAILY ROUND-UP. 9/6/11

Here are some things that got my attention today.

How Nerd Rage Helps Make The World Better

A sweet article on the ways that nerd rage can be used constructively and affect culture in a positive way. If you never complain or tell the creators of your favorite mediums what you think, they would never know what they should be looking to change to appease you.

Starfox Adventures: Stairfax Temperatures - JonTron

I've only watched a couple of JonTron's videos but I find myself to be a growing fan. Starfox Adventures SUCKED. I really like his editing and the use of his awesome co-host.

21 Ft. Long Crocodile Found in the Phillipines

Giant monster croc. 'Nuff Said.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Tango Down Multiplayer Trailer

I am a huge COD fan and have been since COD 2. I am stoked for this release. If you wanna argue about how much it sucks, go ahead. I'd love to get some comments, even if its trollin'.
