POKEMON: CERULEAN CITY ACAPELLA!

Have you heard about Pokemon Go? I should do an article about that this week, yeah? I mean, you can google it, if you can't wait. I don't mind. But this blog is about news, opinion and entertainment, so you'll miss out on the latter. Anywho...

As I will say every time I share music from the Pokemon games, the soundtrack for the series is one of the least appreciated video game soundtracks. Junichi Masuda, who was the composer for the first few games, also created the "cries" of the original 150 Pokemon. Masuda was also the direct of Ruby and Sapphire and now serves on Game Freak's board of directors and has served as a composer, director and/or producer for every Pokemon game. Cool, right?

I love Teen Titans. I especially love CN's Teen Titans the Animated Series.

Something about the idea of a teenage super hero team, something about the art style, something about the comedy, something about the voice acting and definitely something about the writing of this often zany and often epic animated show really stuck with me. It got canned when it was at the peak of its game and deserved better.

I dunno about Teen Titans Go. It is kind of hard to spin-off a zany looney tunes show from a show that involved demonic apocalypses, implied underage abusive and sexual relationship between a villain and hero, and the doom patrol (seriously, the doom patrol is dark). Then again, anime does it too...

I just unsubscribed. After a year of crates, I find myself with more misses than hits and the novelty has worn off. I still recommend folks who are interested to try it but, at the moment, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

Well, I assure you, that as a similarly obsessed pop culture nutjob, I have seen these trailers but, in all the shuffle of the last month or so, haven't gotten to share them and I'm sure that others are also distracted by this DAMNED HEAT and also missed out on these trailers. So excuse me Princess, but I still wanna share this crap. And by crap, I mean like golden crap!

Who doesn't like Tarantino? Who doesn't like the idea of a 4th wall breaking, self-referential comic book anti-hero played by a guy who has already been in two shitty super hero movies? Who doesn't like the look of a super hero movie about the darker underbelly of a world where Superman and Batman exist?

I just finished watching True Detective Season 2, I'm thinking about pre-ordering a Halo 5 Xbox One bundle, and, genuinely, I just needed something to fill up this blog form for you guys to maybe check out and give me feedback. Pfft. Yeah right. See ya'll tomorrow!

Last time on Naruto: Shipoopooden, Sakura-chan ate a bunch of 7-11 hot dogs. Like way too many. Like a half dozen. And somebody stole the key for the bathroom! Meanwhile, Kakashi-senpai tries to ride his skateboard of the Devel's Gooch Canyon but Kabuto stole his wheels with the help of his cartoon dog, Mutley. Meanwhile, Sasuke gets the test results for his pregnancy! Who is the father? Naruto?! OR SASUKE!!!!

FAMILIAR FACES: THE GEEK!

Familiar Faces is a fantastic series that takes a look at characters that are on the periphery and The Geek is definitely an outlier. This video is a testament to the special story-telling powers of comics that television and film is just now starting to embrace. Comic book publishers take risks.

STAR TREK: TNG EDIT 38 "RIKER" EP. 1

If Riker was the main character of Star Trek: The Next Generation, it would be a far more disturbing look at bachelor life. There would also be more chair mountings and a good helping of Riker's "growing up in Alaska with a weird martial arts military dad" stories. I miss watching episodes of TNG I hadn't seen...

MINI-REVIEW:  While a fantastic display piece for any Batman animated series fan, the figure has stiff joints that limit movement, several difficult to use accessory and pieces, and over-all falls just short of greatness. 3/5.

I HAVE SURVIVED THE HOLIDAY SEASON AND MADE IT TO 2015!

A short list of highlights of December in no particular order:

I got my shower head fixed and cooked a perfect omelet du fromage. The simple things are often the best things.

I became certified to drive a Wave. It is similar to piloting a mech. But instead of fighting kaiju, I put boxes onto tall shelves.

I finished Kill La Kill and bought a subscription to Crunchyroll.

I spent too much money on the Steam Sale but I got Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Therefore, it was worth it.

I collected the first two waves of Amiibos, despite being teased for being an addict by my friends, and will soon have a few shelves up to display all my figures.

And lastly, I had a great Christmas and enjoyed spending time with family & friends.

EX. On one hand, I've never been a big fan of coupling Wonder Woman with Superman and I'm not even always onboard with her relationship with Batman in the Justice League, but I gotta admit that Wonder Woman getting some snu snu on with Supes would be hilariously destructive and, with Batman, horribly violent and unfortunate. What do you think?

EX. Miles Scott made headlines back in November. Not because he ruined an award show or started a political scandal. Miles Scott saved San Fransisco and, in the process, Miles and the city of San Fransisco restored the collective faith of millions in humanity. Miles Scott isn't just any kid, after all. Miles Scott is Batkid! And here is his winspirational story...

Miles Scott is only five and, like Batman dealing out justice to the crooks and criminals of Gotham, has put his leukemia into remission. The Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization made-up of heroes that would make the Justice League proud, managed to bring Miles Scott's comic book dream into reality.

Thousands of citizens came out in support of their little champion, buying t-shirts dedicated to his bravery (with the proceeds going to charity), and cheered Batkid on as he foiled a bankrobbery, saved several hostages (including a seal mascot), defeated the Riddler, and ended up not just saving the day, but inspiring the people of this city to never give up.

Batkid's is not just the hero Gotham that deserves, but the one it needs right now. So we'll support him. Because, together, we can take on anything. He's not just a hero. He's a symbol. A rally cry for adults everywhere. A bright light. The Dark Knight.

P.S. Make sure to donate and support charities like the Make-A-Wish Foundation nationally, and in your local area, that help children like Miles Scott every day.

It can be as simple as saying "sure, why not" with a slightly amused smile when someone asks if you want to donate a dollar to St. Jude after ordering your pizza or buying a movie ticket.

You can be a hero or, at the very least, you can help a hero.

1. Acronym. "Over-Powered".

EX. A lot of people accuse Superman of being overpowered and that O.P. heroes are not as interesting as say characters like Batman. I would actually argue Batman is quite O.P. because he has the power of billions of dollars and the fact that half of the people who write and read comics think Batman could beat anyone and therefore he usually does so by "outsmarting" them in the same way that they use technobabble on Star Trek to overcome every problem.

As for telling stories with O.P. characters, I think that the stories about Superman mean a lot more to me than stories about Batman. I think that latter character tends to be overshadowed by his villains in many stories, but I feel Superman holds his own as a character in his stories. I also find Superman, despite the fact that he has godly power, to be more relateable.

I think Quentin Tarantino's speech, performed by Bill (David Carradine), about Superman in Kill Bill  2 is incorrect. Superman isn't Superman, he is Clark Kent. Batman isn't Bruce Wayne, he is Batman. And Clark Kent represents the paragon of morality . He believes in "Truth, Justice, and The American Way". Before I sound jingoistic, I'll explain that "The American Way" is hope. You have to have hope to believe that there is truth and justice in the universe. That is what Clark Kent believes in.

If you wanna understand Superman better, I recommend reading All-Star Superman or the Superman story "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, & The American Way?". You can actually watch the animated films about both on Netflix, under All-Star Superman and Superman Vs. The Elite. The latter story is the perfect reply to every anti-hero character written to point out the "hypocrisy" of characters of Superman.

P.S. I have high hopes about the new Superman film, Man of Steel.
